Self-Employed 2x Man Substation Civils Dig Crew in North Wales, offering Β£450-550+ per day (split). This is an ongoing self-employed position.

My client is looking for a 2x man COMP / APSA authorised civils dig crew holding Scottish Power authorisations to work on and within Scottish Power Grid substations. This work is based across North Wales and North West England, with the first substation located in Newtown near Shrewsbury. The project involves hand and machine digging of trenches for duct laying and the installation of CCTV tower bases. There is a strong pipeline of work, with up to 100 substations planned during 2026, offering long-term opportunities for the right crews.

Key Duties:
  • Hand and machine excavation within live substation environments.
  • Trenching for duct installation.
  • Installation of CCTV tower bases.
  • Working safely in accordance with Scottish Power substation procedures.
  • Use of CAT & Genny equipment to locate services.
Requirements:
  • Scottish Power authorisations (COMP / APSA).
  • CAT & Genny certification (at least one operative).
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • CSCS card.
  • First Aid.
  • CPCS or NPORS plant tickets.
  • Proven civils substation dig experience.
  • Experience installing ducting and CCTV tower bases.
