Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client in Clydach, Swansea for a Logistics / Traffic Analyst for a 12-18 month period of maternity cover.
Vale Base Metals, a global supplier of critical minerals, has been refining nickel at the Vale Europe site in Clydach for more than 120 years. They are part of one of the largest global mining companies, offering a fantastic opportunity to work in a stable, safety-driven, and world-class engineering environment.
The Logistics / Traffic Analyst will support and ensure the execution of all functions that contribute to the business unit through the accomplishment and enhancement of logistics administration processes, while following strict adherence to corporate governance and compliance policies. The role involves truck and container bookings, coordination of loading dates based on production schedules, communication of loading or arrival delays, and invoice processing relating to nickel shipments from the Clydach plant to the UK, Europe and Asia.
Key Duties- Input carrier rates and transit times into SAP.
- Process carrier and shipping line invoices and ensure payments are made on time.
- Extract information from SAP and produce shipping order preparation documents in a timely manner.
- Book trucks and containers with carriers via online systems and email.
- Produce accurate export documentation related to shipments, depending on the incoterm and carrier requirements.
- Communicate proactively with back-office teams in Asia and Europe regarding loading or delivery delays affecting customer sales orders.
- Ensure carriers comply with security requirements in accordance with contracts and site rules.
- Ensure adherence with established procedures, internal and legal guidelines, and Sarbanes Oxley (SARBOX) requirements.
- Identify improvement opportunities and establish departmental and cross-functional solutions and procedures.
- Support analysis, KPI reporting, database management and key controls to address deviations and continuous improvement plans.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to resolve operational issues and minimise shipment disruption.
- Take ownership of problems and resolve critical issues quickly to avoid additional costs to the business, carriers or customers.
- Industry-specific post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Proven track record within a logistics, supply chain or transport-related role.
- Good knowledge of end-to-end supply chain operations, container and trucking shipments, and warehousing.
- Understanding of customs clearance, warehousing and loading processes.
- Experience using SAP.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Deadline-driven approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Quick, responsive and proactive working style.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of issues.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple teams and cultures.
