Refuse Collector | Recycling Operative | Refuse Operative Torr Quarry, near Kingsbridge | £12.85 per hour | Monday to Friday | 7am-5:30pm | Temporary Ongoing | Own Transport Essential Introduction Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Refuse Collector to join a recycling team at Torr Quarry, near Kingsbridge. This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving the collection and disposal of household and commercial waste and recycling. You'll be working outside in various weather conditions, handling waste and recyclable materials and supporting collection activities. You must have your own transport to apply for this position. What We Offer £12.85 per hour. Monday to Friday. 7am-5:30pm. Temporary ongoing work. Supportive local team environment. Key Duties Correctly sort different recyclable materials. Move wheelie bins, recycling boxes and refuse bags from kerbsides and properties to the collection vehicle. Operate hydraulic lifting mechanisms to empty bins and compact waste inside the lorry. Inspect materials for contamination, identify hazardous items and report issues. Guide the driver safely through narrow or busy streets and assist with reversing manoeuvres. Sort recyclable from non-recyclable materials and help unload waste at designated depots, tips or landfill sites. Requirements Essential: Own transport to travel to Torr Quarry. Physically fit and able to stand for long periods. Ability to lift heavy items. Basic numeracy skills and ability to follow instructions. Good attention to detail when identifying materials and contaminants. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and in dusty or noisy environments. Interested?
