Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client, Vale Base Metals, for a Logistics / Traffic Office Graduate Intern based in Clydach, Swansea. Vale Base Metals, a global supplier of critical minerals, has been refining nickel at its Vale Europe site in Clydach for more than 120 years. As part of one of the world's largest mining companies, Vale offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a stable, safety-driven, and world-class engineering environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to join the Logistics and Traffic Department, supporting the execution and continuous improvement of logistics administration processes. Working closely with the Traffic, Logistics, and Supply Performance teams, you will support nickel shipments from the Clydach plant across the UK, Europe, and Asia, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager based in Switzerland.

Key Duties
  • Extract, produce, and distribute shipping documentation from SAP in a timely manner.
  • Arrange truck and container bookings with carriers via online systems and email.
  • Produce accurate export documentation in line with Incoterms and carrier requirements.
  • Work proactively with back-office teams across Europe and Asia.
  • Ensure site security procedures and operational rules are followed.
  • Analyse logistics data, maintain KPIs, databases, and key controls to support continuous improvement.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement practical solutions.
  • Support the review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, and training documentation.
  • Analyse workflows and recommend efficiencies to optimise logistics processes.
  • Support the Planning Analyst with KPI dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Process carrier invoices and purchase orders within SAP.
  • Participate in the SAP S/4HANA migration project.
  • Provide support to the Traffic Analysts, Supply Planning Analyst, and IT teams during periods of increased workload.
Requirements
  • Recent graduate in Supply Chain, International Trade, Data Analytics, Supply Planning, Purchasing, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when preparing shipping and export documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multicultural teams across Europe and Asia.
  • Interest in logistics, supply chain, international trade, transport operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Good analytical skills with an interest in KPIs, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest or experience in Power BI, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, or other ERP/reporting systems is desirable.
  • Ability to understand business processes, identify improvements, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Safety-conscious approach with a commitment to following operational procedures.
