Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a growing and highly regarded professional services firm for a Tax Manager to join their team in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager, Assistant Tax Manager, or ambitious Tax Senior looking to step into a management role. You'll work with a diverse portfolio of private clients, business owners, and trusts, delivering a varied mix of compliance and advisory services while developing your technical expertise within a supportive and collaborative tax team.

Working on complex and rewarding client matters, you'll become a trusted adviser and play a key role in the continued growth and success of the department.

Key Duties
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and act as the main point of contact for tax-related matters.
  • Deliver a mix of personal tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Support complex tax planning projects and provide tailored advice to clients.
  • Review tax returns and oversee the delivery of high-quality technical work.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, supporting their professional development.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the tax function.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a tax-focused role at Tax Senior, Assistant Manager, or Manager level.
  • ATT and/or CTA qualified.
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and managing more complex client matters.
  • Desire to develop expertise in overseas and non-residential tax services.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships.
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to trusts, estates, and probate work.
  • Experience supporting tax advisory projects.
  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with overseas and non-residential tax services.
