We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter - Site Engineer to join our field service team. You'll be working predominantly off-site at customer locations, assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and equipment. Travel time is paid and a company van + fuel card is provided. This is a varied role - no two days are the same and you won't be stuck in a workshop.
Key Duties
- Build and install mechanical systems, structures and industrial equipment on customer sites, working to spec and deadlines.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to keep machinery running efficiently and minimise downtime.
- Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on industrial equipment - bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps etc.
- Read and work from engineering drawings to construct, install and modify mechanical systems and structures.
- Work safely on customer sites, follow permits/RAMS, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Complete job sheets, service reports and highlight any issues/recommendations to the client.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assembly, installation and maintenance of industrial machinery/equipment.
- Strong mechanical fitting skills - fitting, alignment, fault diagnosis, hand tools + power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings - essential for installing systems correctly.
- Self-motivated, problem-solver, happy working independently on site.
- Full UK driving licence - essential due to travel. No points = preferred for insurance.
Desirable/Bonus:
- Experience constructing mechanical systems and structures from scratch.
- Hydraulics/pneumatics knowledge.
- Previous field service/site engineer experience.
- Welding skills or fabrication background.
