Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Technical Manager to join an established and growing food manufacturing business in South Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food manufacturing professional to lead food safety, quality assurance and compliance across the production operation. The role is suited to someone who enjoys maintaining high standards, working closely with production teams and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Duties

  • Manage and develop the site's food safety and quality management systems.
  • Lead internal, customer and third-party audits, including BRCGS compliance.
  • Maintain HACCP plans and ensure effective implementation throughout the business.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances and quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage supplier approval processes and technical documentation.
  • Oversee product specifications, labelling compliance and allergen management.
  • Monitor changes in food legislation and ensure the business remains compliant.
  • Work closely with production, operations and commercial teams to promote a strong food safety culture.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Technical Manager or senior quality role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of BRCGS standards, HACCP principles and food safety legislation.
  • Experience leading external audits and customer compliance activities.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Level 4 Food Safety, HACCP certification or equivalent technical qualifications would be advantageous.
