Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and long-established engineering and fabrication company based in Cardiff for an experienced CNC Turner Machinist.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Siemens Sinumerik ShopTurn lathe programming. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the client's repair and servicing workshop, where you'll set, program and operate CNC lathes, producing one-off and batch components for heavy industrial equipment.
What We Offer
- £16.94 per hour (£34,354.32 per annum).
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays and Saturdays. Double time on Sundays.
- 24 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

Hours of Work
Monday to Thursday, 8am-4:30pm. Friday, 8am-3pm. 39 basic hours per week.
Key Duties
- Operate and set up CNC lathes to produce high-quality components.
- Program directly from drawings using Siemens Sinumerik ShopTurn software.
- Interpret technical drawings and follow specifications accurately.
- Measure and inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Work within a skilled machine shop environment across various industries.
Requirements
- Time-served Turner / Toolmaker with proven machining experience.
- Proficiency in operating and setting up CNC lathes.
- Experience programming Siemens Sinumerik ShopTurn software.
- Confident ability to read and interpret geometric engineering drawings.
- Experience with precision measurement techniques and inspection tools.
- Understanding of equipment maintenance and care.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and problem-solving ability.
- Commitment to workplace safety and procedures.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Previous experience as a CNC Turner, Turning Machinist or CNC Turning Machinist.
