Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and long-established engineering and fabrication company based in Cardiff for a CNC Miller Machinist who has experience with the Heidenhain TNC 320 control system.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the client's repair and servicing workshop, where you will set, program and operate a bed milling machine, working on one-off and batch components for heavy industrial equipment.
What We Offer
- £16.94 per hour (£34,354.32 per annum).
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays and Saturdays. Double time on Sundays.
- 24 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday, 8am-4:30pm.
- Friday, 8am-3pm.
- 39 hours per week.
Key Duties
- Set and operate manual milling machines.
- Program directly from drawings using the Heidenhain TNC 320 screen, although most jobs already have a programme.
- Manually adjust the universal milling head for cutting angles.
- Mount workpieces weighing up to 1,000kg using a 2-tonne gantry crane.
- Self-inspect finished parts using standard precision measuring tools.
Requirements
- Proven experience using the Heidenhain TNC 320 control system.
- Direct experience operating a bed mill or similar 1500mm x 600mm machine.
- Confident ability to read and interpret geometric engineering drawings.
- Competence with manual machine adjustments.
- Experience with manual data input (MDI).
- Previous experience as a CNC Miller, Milling Machinist or CNC/Manual Miller Machinist.
