Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner, CNC Setter Operator, Manual Lathe Machinist or CNC Machinist to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machining professional with CNC turning, machine setting and manual lathe experience to join a stable employer offering an excellent salary, bonus schemes, early Friday finishes and a comprehensive benefits package.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for setting, operating and monitoring CNC turning machines while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and productivity.

Key Duties
  • Set up and operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision engineered components.
  • Produce components from job cards, engineering drawings and production specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, including tool cutting points and TNR compensation.
  • Read, edit and adjust CNC programmes where required.
  • Select, install and set the correct tooling for each production run.
  • Carry out first-off inspections and make machine adjustments where necessary.
  • Measure finished components using mechanical and optical measuring equipment to ensure tolerances are met.
  • Complete batch inspections in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify and remove non-conforming parts from production.
  • Operate multiple CNC machines as production demands require.
  • Record production activity using barcode scanning for full traceability.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and prepare machines for the next production run.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a CNC Turner, CNC Setter Operator, Manual Lathe Machinist, CNC Machinist or similar engineering role.
  • Experience setting and operating CNC turning machines is essential.
  • Manual turning and lathe machining experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls or Okuma machines would be advantageous.
  • Experience working within an engineering or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manufacture components to tight tolerances.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to work across multiple machines and production areas.
  • Strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement and workplace safety.
Hours

Rotating shift pattern: Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm; Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm; Early finish every Friday.
