Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Biomedical Scientist (Band 5/6) to join their laboratory team. This is an excellent opportunity for a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services and support excellent patient care.
As part of the laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a range of analytical tests and investigations on patient samples. You will ensure accurate and timely results that directly support clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Key Duties- Perform analytical testing, validation and processing of patient samples.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Process urgent, routine and specialist investigations within agreed turnaround times.
- Review and authorise results in line with SOPs, competency requirements and quality standards.
- Participate in Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 15189, UKAS and laboratory quality standards.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and full sample traceability.
- Collaborate effectively with clinicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to support patient care.
- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised qualification.
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- IBMS-accredited degree.
- Experience working within a clinical pathology or diagnostic laboratory.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing processes and quality standards.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good IT and data management capabilities.
