Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Purchasing & Goods-In Assistant on behalf of a well-established British engineering and manufacturing business based in Sparkford, Somerset. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of advanced incubation and hatchery systems for customers worldwide. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will provide essential support across purchasing, procurement administration and Goods-In, helping to ensure materials and products are ordered, received and recorded efficiently and accurately.

What We Offer

  • £13 per hour.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday working pattern.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the purchasing process from requisition through to delivery.
  • Source suppliers, obtain and compare quotations, and negotiate to achieve competitive pricing.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders using Sage 50.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing and stock records.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, pricing and any issues that arise.
  • Follow up supplier queries raised by the Accounts team.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including delivery times, quality and responsiveness.
  • Work closely with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements.
  • Assist with stock control and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Support the Goods-In team with checking and booking incoming stock onto Sage 50.
  • Help maintain an organised, efficient and tidy Goods-In area.
  • Assist with procurement projects, process improvements and other ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, administration, supply chain or a similar role.
  • Good analytical and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
  • Proactive approach, with the initiative to work effectively without constant supervision.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Sage 50 and/or CIM 50 would be advantageous.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
  • Own transport is essential due to the location.
