Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced AS400 Support Specialist to join an Industrial Lab Systems team on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled IBM AS400 / IBM i professional to play a key role in supporting business-critical operations and driving system improvements. You will act as a specialist investigator for operational and system-related issues, working independently to identify root causes, resolve problems, and recommend both immediate corrective actions and sustainable long-term solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve AS400 operational and system issues.
  • Identify root causes of system and process failures.
  • Produce reports, data extracts, and meaningful business insights.
  • Write, maintain, and enhance reports and queries.
  • Conduct data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Monitor critical business processes and scheduled jobs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Develop long-term solutions that reduce reliance on manual workarounds and temporary fixes.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience supporting IBM AS400 / IBM i environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and report writing.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and investigate complex operational issues.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment would be advantageous.
