Description
The Technical Project Manager oversees the delivery of Data and AI initiatives, ensuring projects are planned, executed, and completed effectively to achieve strategic objectives. This role involves managing the full project lifecycle—from roadmap creation through to implementation—while coordinating resources, mitigating risks, and maintaining clear communication among stakeholders. The position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and organisational capability within a data‑driven environment. The Technical Project Manager plays a key role in aligning advanced data technologies, analytics, and artificial intelligence initiatives with broader business goals to drive measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project roadmaps, ensuring that project milestones and deliverables align with business and technical goals.
- Oversee the full project delivery lifecycle, from initial scoping and planning through to implementation and post‑delivery review.
- Use Azure DevOps boards (or equivalent tools) to track progress, manage tasks, and ensure transparent communication across teams.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing effective strategies for risk management and issue resolution.
- Lead regular project reporting cycles, including progress updates, status reports, SteerCo presentations and executive summaries for senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring that all resources are allocated efficiently and project expenditures remain within approved limits.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across technical and non‑technical teams, ensuring alignment, transparency, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, AI Specialists, and Solution Architects to ensure successful technical delivery in line with business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement across project management practices and delivery methodologies, creating a culture of accountability.
Key Skills
- Proven experience in technical project management, preferably within Data, Analytics, or AI domains.
- Strong proficiency in creating project roadmaps and defining delivery milestones.
- Experience in risk management and issue resolution.
- Hands‑on experience managing projects using Azure DevOps boards or similar project tracking tools.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of engaging both technical teams and executive leadership.
- Strong skills in project reporting, including producing status reports, dashboards, Steerco presentation and performance metrics.
- Sound understanding of project budget management, cost tracking, and financial governance.
- Experience with Agile and/or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
