We are looking for a First Line Support Assistant to join our IT Team and support colleagues across ACO with day-to-day technology requests. This role will be an important first point of contact for basic IT support, helping users with common hardware, software, connectivity and access issues, while ensuring requests are logged, progressed and resolved in a helpful and professional way.
The role will involve:
- Building and preparing workstations and notebooks
- Setting up user profiles
- Supporting basic Service Desk tickets, & maintaining IT asset records
- Helping to order and organise equipment requested by end users
- Supporting the wider IT team with general administration, including raising purchase orders and CAPEX requests for new equipment, keeping IT areas and stockrooms organised, and ensuring equipment is recorded and managed accurately
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in developing a career in IT support. You will be working as part of a supportive team, learning from experienced colleagues and gaining practical exposure to IT service delivery in a busy business environment.
To be considered for this position, you must be within a reasonable commuting distance of our Head Office in Shefford (SG17 5TE). Occasional travel to our Bedford site will also be required; therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential.
What you'll bring:
To be successful in this role you ideally have some basic understanding of computer hardware and software, Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel. You should be comfortable following instructions, documenting simple technical steps and supporting users with common issues such as printers, connectivity and software errors. Experience in a formal IT support role is not essential, but you should have an interest in technology, a willingness to learn and the confidence to ask questions when needed. A basic understanding of networking, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet and IP configuration, would be helpful but can be developed in the role.
About you:
You will be friendly, dependable and customer-focused, with a helpful approach and a genuine interest in supporting colleagues. You should be organised, able to stay calm when managing more than one request, and comfortable taking direction and feedback as you learn. Strong communication skills, patience and a team-focused attitude will be important, as the role involves regular contact with users across the business.
