We are now looking for a Senior Design Engineer Technical to join our Design Services team and play a pivotal role in providing engineered drainage solutions across major projects.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design support to customers, contractors, and internal teams. You will manage design workloads, contribute technical expertise, lead elements of the Programming function, and ensure our solutions meet the highest technical and performance standards. This is a key role where relationship management, engineering capability, and leadership come together.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert design assistance across the ACO Building Drainage division.
  • Create drawings, layouts, specifications, loading calculations, and hydraulic assessments.
  • Produce formal design proposals and engineered solutions for major projects.
  • Support new product design and market placement in collaboration with the Product Management team.
  • Identify bespoke product opportunities and value-engineering options.
  • Lead and support the Programming function/team.
  • Drive continuous improvement with the Manufacturing team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience working in a sheet metal environment.
  • Strong competence in SolidWorks.
  • Experience in programming (ideally TruTops Boost).
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and CRM systems.
  • An understanding of project management principles, with experience would be advantageous in this role.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4:30pm, totaling 34.5 hours per week. We operate a hybrid working policy, where you can work up to 2 days per week from home. The role will initially be based at our Bedford site, however will be relocating to our Shefford site by the end of 2027.
