The Laboratory Supervisor has responsibility for day-to-day operations within the laboratory in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the day to day management of laboratory personnel including definition of role and responsibilities, training, development and performance management.
  • Support the effective performance of the team and individuals to ensure scheduled operational activities are completed on each given day.
  • Manage the laboratory phase of validation activities (equipment and assay) alongside Research and Development ensuring deliverables meet required timeframes and requirements.
  • Performing sample analysis where required. Designated as a subject matter expert for assays/platforms within the laboratory.
  • Working closely with scientific subject matter experts and the Research and Development function to coordinate and manage new equipment and analytical procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot assays and analytical systems within the laboratory.
  • Setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment in line with standard operating procedure (SOPs).
  • Any other duties as defined and requested by Operational Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc (or equivalent) or higher in a relevant scientific subject.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience within a laboratory environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising a team (external) or 2 years' experience coaching/mentoring a team (internal).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
