We’re looking for an Electronic Engineer with strong hands-on experience delivering integrated security, fire detection, and communications/network systems in professional (B2B) environments. This is a field-focused role covering design support, installation oversight, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation - ideally with exposure to construction environments such as solar farms and utility-scale sites.
Our client is an ICP (Independent Connections Provider) based in the West Midlands, focused on supporting renewable energy assets. They work as a subcontractor on utility-scale solar projects, supporting delivery on site across build and completion phases alongside construction and electrical teams. They’ve been operating for around 2.5 years and have seen significant growth, with a strong pipeline of renewables work driving expansion in the team.
Key Responsibilities- Design support and field implementation of integrated systems including CCTV, intrusion/alarms, fire alarm systems, fiber optic networks, and structured cabling.
- Install, configure, test, and commission end-to-end solutions across security, fire detection, and network infrastructure.
- Perform system testing, validation, and acceptance testing to ensure reliability, scalability, and long-term performance.
- Troubleshoot faults across CCTV, intrusion, fire, fiber optic, and structured network systems; identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Support deployment activities on active construction/infrastructure sites (including solar farm environments where applicable), working safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with contractors, electricians, and engineering teams to coordinate works, resolve site issues, and maintain project timelines.
- Produce and maintain basic technical documentation (e.g., commissioning sheets, test results, as-built notes, handover packs, service reports).
- Provide field support and post-installation assistance to ensure systems remain stable and maintainable.
- Hands-on experience with integrated security systems (CCTV, intrusion/alarm) and fire detection/fire alarm systems.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling (design principles, installation practices, testing, and fault finding).
- Practical commissioning and troubleshooting experience in professional/B2B environments.
- Comfortable working on-site and in construction/infrastructure settings; solar farm exposure is a strong advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and network layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset (reliability, scalability, and correct field implementation).
- Clear communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple trades on site.
- Experience on utility-scale or renewable energy sites (solar farms), substations, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with network fundamentals (IP addressing, switching basics, PoE, VLAN concepts) as they relate to CCTV and comms systems.
- Vendor certifications or training related to CCTV, fire systems, fiber testing, or structured cabling.
- Field-based, hands-on, and collaborative.
- Comfortable balancing practical site work with accurate documentation and handover standards.
- Systems are installed and commissioned right-first-time, with clean test results and clear documentation.
- Faults are diagnosed quickly with strong root-cause thinking.
- Site work is coordinated smoothly with contractors and electricians, maintaining safety and project momentum.
- Salary from £30,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience
- Company NEST pension
- Accommodation paid for
- Company clothes
- Supportive collaborative team
