SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – SOLAR FARM PROJECTSLOCATION: UK Wide (Travel Required)SALARY: Up to £40,000 per annumCONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
ABOUT THE ROLE:This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of the UK's renewable energy transition, working on solar farm projects that contribute to the country's net-zero targets. You'll be joining a dynamic team committed to sustainability and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client's expanding renewable energy team, specializing in solar farm projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to work on cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure while enjoying comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities.
Lead electrical engineering activities on solar farm construction and maintenance projects Conduct high and low voltage electrical installations, testing, and commissioning Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on solar installations Work with transformers, switchgears, inverters, and control systems Ensure compliance with industry standards, health & safety regulations, and grid connection requirements Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and construction teams Prepare technical reports, method statements, and risk assessments Mentor junior engineers and electrical technicians Liaise with DNOs and manage grid connection processes
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Gold Card qualification (ECS/JIB) – MANDATORY Minimum 5+ years experience working on solar farm projects Strong background in renewable energy sector, particularly solar PV systems High voltage (HV) and Low voltage (LV) electrical experience 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations Valid UK driving licence SMSTS or equivalent health & safety qualification Experience with ICP (Independent Connection Provider) work preferred Knowledge of grid connection processes and DNO requirements
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent NICEIC/NAPIT registration Experience with 132kV substations Solar farm commissioning experience Project management qualifications
