Schedule: Tuesday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

SUMMARY

The Scientist I is expected to form part of the Laboratory team performing analysis of clinical samples on both automated and manual platforms, working to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. The Scientist I performs activities under supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Performing sample analysis
  • Assist in instrument and method validations where required
  • Contribute to revision of department specific SOPs in conjunction with other ACM functions
  • Document and complete any quality documentation (Quality Issue, CAPA, deviation, change control) as appropriate within the required timeframes
  • Participate fully in the general housekeeping of the laboratory, including procurement, stock check and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
  • Assist in other operational areas where required (e.g. Sample Management, Logistics)
  • Participate in internal and external quality assessment as required
  • Participation in all activities that seek to ensure compliance with GCP guidelines and accreditation schemes (e.g. CAP)
  • Comply with policies for the safe, secure and confidential processing and storage of patient/client data and other laboratory information
  • Any other duties as defined and requested by Operational Management

The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that all the above processes are performed in accordance with: Definitive study protocols, the current ICH Guideline for GCP, UK Clinical Trial Statutory Instruments, current Health and Safety Legislation and ACM HR policies, other legislation that is relevant to the responsibilities of the post, and ACM SOPs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSc or higher in a relevant scientific subject

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
