Schedule: 9am – 5pm, Tuesday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, Saturday
Summary
As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, you will conduct testing to provide critical results for participants across several phases of clinical trials. You will form part of the UK Clinical Laboratory team performing sample analysis of clinical trial samples on both automated and manual platforms, working to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
Responsibilities
- Setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs), including but not limited to assay calibration and analysis and assessment of assay Quality Control materials.
- Performing sample analysis on clinical trials test samples (e.g. whole blood, serum, plasma, urine).
- Record all required results and data accurately in laboratory forms and electronic systems.
- Assist in instrument and method validations where required.
- Contribute to revision of department specific SOPs in conjunction with other peers.
- Completion of any quality documentation (Quality Issue, CAPA, deviation, change control) as appropriate within the required timeframes.
- Participate fully in the general housekeeping of the laboratory, including procurement, stock check and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
- Assist in other operational areas where required (e.g. Sample Management, Logistics).
- Participation in all activities that seek to ensure compliance with GCP guidelines and accreditation schemes (e.g. CAP, NEQAS, RIQAS).
- Comply with policies for the safe, secure and confidential processing and storage of clinical trial data and other laboratory information.
- Any other duties as defined and requested by Operational Management.
Required Qualifications
- BSc or higher in a relevant scientific subject
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory experience in a clinical setting is desirable but not required.
- Background in practical and/or theoretical blood sciences is desirable.
- Appreciation for working in a regulatory environment (experience working to GCP is desirable).
