A local authority in Newham is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care team. The service promotes independence, resilience and wellbeing, supporting adults to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest.

As a Senior OT, you will lead on complex assessments, provide supervision to colleagues, and support the development of high-quality, strengths-based practice across the team.

Main Duties
  • Undertake and oversee complex Occupational Therapy assessments, including reablement and Care Act assessments.
  • Lead on discharge planning, equipment provision, and complex adaptations.
  • Mentorship and role modelling, supporting colleagues through advice, quality assurance, guidance, and promoting collaborative problem-solving for optimal citizen outcomes.
  • Expertise in complex assessments and care and support planning, particularly where safety is impacted by equipment or adaptation needs, supporting less experienced practitioners.
  • Active contributor to service development, driving best practice in social care through proactive engagement and innovation.
  • Provide professional supervision, guidance and support to OTs, unregistered staff and students.
  • Carry out moving and handling risk assessments and ensure safe, effective practice.
  • Contribute to safeguarding investigations, multi-agency planning, and risk management.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases, ensuring statutory requirements and service priorities are met.
  • Promote service development and best practice within Adult Social Care.
  • Support training, CPD activities and peer learning within the OT team.
Requirements
  • Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience in Adult Social Care or Community OT.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and discharge planning.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues/students.
  • Strong knowledge of moving and handling and complex adaptations.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can assist).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable.
