Ackerman Pierce work closely with local authorities to provide one to one tutoring for young people with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), who are unable to be in mainstream school. The young people we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEMH Tutors, SEN Tutors / SEN Teachers / Teachers / Tutors / HLTA's, with experience supporting young people with social emotional and mental health needs, ideally adopting a therapeutic approach.

We are currently recruiting for KS3-KS4 teachers / tutors to provide provision to various students based from Upminster to Romford. Support in core subjects (Math, English and ideally Science) is required. These students have various needs including SEMH needs, EBSA, school refusers, ASD, ADHD and more - previous SEMH / therapeutic experience is preferred.

Location: East London (Upminster- Romford)

Position: 1:1 SEMH tutor

Start date: ASAP

End date: Ongoing

Contract type: Temporary

Typical Hours: 2-3 hours per student - 5 days per week (Monday - Friday) - most tutors work with 2-3 students daily, so up to 35 hours weekly on offer

Rate of pay: from Β£25 per hour for unqualified tutors. Up to Β£40 per hour for Teachers with QTS and SEMH / therapeutic experience

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Available during school hours between 10-30 hours per week.
  • Experienced in delivering differentiated National Curriculum core subjects.
  • Experience teaching young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including SEMH.
  • Therapeutic or trauma informed experience.
  • Exceptional behaviour management strategies.
  • Prepared to work face to face within the community or family home.

Requirements:

  • Background teaching in English, Maths or SEN classes.
  • Ex therapists, CAMHs workers who are keen to explore tutoring.
  • QTS status (or equivalent) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects.
  • Experience working with SEMH and associated complex needs.
