A local authority in Newcastle is looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Front Door Service. This team is the first point of contact for referrals, providing timely screening, triage, and early intervention to ensure people receive the right support at the right time. As an OT, you will carry out holistic assessments, recommend interventions, and play a key role in enabling independence, resilience, and wellbeing for adults in the community.

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Main Duties:

  • Undertake timely OT assessments at the point of referral, identifying needs and recommending appropriate support.
  • Deliver early intervention, equipment provision, and housing/adaptation recommendations.
  • Carry out moving and handling risk assessments and ensure safe, effective practice.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary colleagues to develop support plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Manage a caseload of referrals efficiently, ensuring statutory requirements and service priorities are met.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes, risk management, and duty cover within the team.
  • Promote independence and person-centred outcomes through strengths-based practice.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care, hospital discharge, or community OT services
  • Knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, and moving & handling
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced service
  • Enhanced DBS (we can assist)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable
