A South London local authority is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care Contact Team as a Deputy Team Manager. This is a frontline, fast-paced service that promotes independence through early, effective Occupational Therapy intervention. The service is strength-based and person-centred, supporting adults to remain safe, independent, and well within their own homes and communities.

Main Duties

  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership within the Adult Social Care Contact Team
  • Oversee Occupational Therapy service provision, including management of the generic OT inbox
  • Quality‑assure OT referrals, contact assessments, and equipment recommendations
  • Allocate OT work on a weekly basis and monitor team workloads
  • Provide professional OT guidance, supervision, and clinical oversight
  • Authorise straightforward OT equipment following assessment (excluding major adaptations)
  • Support early intervention to prevent deterioration, crisis, or hospital admission
  • Identify training needs and support the development of unqualified staff
  • Promote strength‑based, person‑centred and outcome‑focused practice
  • Support performance management, staff wellbeing, and sickness monitoring
  • Contribute to service development, team processes, and continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners

Requirements

  • Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Significant post‑qualification experience within Adult Social Care
  • Experience providing professional supervision and leadership
  • Strong knowledge of OT legislation, professional standards, and best practice
  • Experience with equipment provision and functional assessments
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making, and report‑writing skills
  • Enhanced DBS (we can assist)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
