Family Group Conference Co-ordinatorChildren & Families | Family Resource TeamService Area: Children & FamiliesLocation: London Borough of RedbridgeMake a Difference for Children and FamiliesWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Family Group Conference (FGC) Co-ordinator to join our Family Resource Team on a temporary agency basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children, young people and their extended family networks, helping families develop safe, sustainable plans that promote positive outcomes and reduce the need for statutory intervention.
As an FGC Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in empowering families to make informed decisions about their children's futures through a strengths-based, family-led approach. You will facilitate Family Group Conferences, bring together family networks and professionals, and support the development of effective plans that safeguard children and promote family resilience.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, organise and facilitate Family Group Conferences, including initial and review meetings.
Work directly with children, young people and their families to support family-led decision making.
Prepare children, family members and professionals for Family Group Conferences through home, school and office visits.
Support families to create safe and effective plans for children and young people within their wider family network.
Promote the active participation of children and young people using creative and inclusive approaches.
Work collaboratively with social workers, partner agencies and community networks.
Ensure safeguarding procedures, statutory requirements and service standards are consistently met.
Record outcomes, monitor progress and contribute to service evaluation and continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate records and ensure plans are completed and distributed within agreed timescales.
Promote awareness and understanding of the Family Group Conference model across Children's Services. About YouWe are looking for someone who has: EssentialNVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification) or equivalent relevant experience.
Accredited training in the delivery of Family Group Conferences.
Experience working professionally with children, young people and families.
Experience facilitating Family Group Conferences.
Experience within Children's Services and/or Child Protection environments.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage complex family situations and competing priorities.
Knowledge of safeguarding practice, child development and relevant legislation.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
DesirableExperience working with diverse communities and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Experience promoting family-led decision-making approaches and participation.
Experience of family work, group work and community engagement.
