Are you an experienced transport or highways professional looking to lead on the delivery of real, on-the-ground infrastructure projects? East Sussex County Council is seeking a Principal Officer to play a key role in shaping and delivering highway schemes that support new developments across the county.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the design and delivery of developer-led highway schemes through S38, S171 and S278 agreements
- Approving highway designs and overseeing construction to ensure quality, safety and minimal disruption
- Managing complex projects, budgets and small-to-medium contracts from start to finish
- Working closely with developers, contractors, planners, emergency services and local councils
- Acting as a technical expert and mentor to colleagues, supporting team development
- Contributing to policy development, governance, reporting and service improvement
