A local authority in Kirklees is looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care team, supporting a specialist project focused on neurodivergence, emotional regulation, and sensory integration. The service is seeking an Occupational Therapist with an Ayres Sensory Integration qualification to support a cohort of individuals presenting with primary needs relating to neurodivergence and dysregulation.
This role will focus on strengthening care planning, identifying sensory and environmental needs, and implementing practical interventions that promote emotional regulation and reduce incidents of dysregulated behaviour. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, providers, carers, and support environments to develop strategies that improve outcomes and maintain safe, supportive placements.
Main Duties:- Undertake holistic Occupational Therapy assessments with a sensory integration and neurodivergence focus
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20 individuals with complex behavioural and emotional regulation needs
- Develop and strengthen person-centred care plans that support emotional regulation and independence
- Identify and recommend appropriate sensory strategies, equipment, adaptations, and environmental techniques
- Provide practical solutions and guidance to care providers to help prevent escalation of behaviours
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals, carers, and support staff
- Support care environments to implement therapeutic approaches that reduce risk and improve wellbeing
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and risk management where required
- Maintain accurate case records, assessments, and reports in line with professional standards
- HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification
- Essential: Ayres Sensory Integration qualification
- Experience working with neurodivergent individuals and emotional/behavioural dysregulation
- Experience in care planning, sensory-based interventions, and complex case management
- Strong communication, assessment, and report writing skills
- Enhanced & Barred List DBS check
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable
