We are looking to recruit a Youth Engagement Officer in the Youth Justice Team within Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will be working in a well-structured, organised team who are growing their youth justice staffing levels. The responsibilities of the Youth Engagement Officer includes:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of one-to-one support for children and young people allocated in the youth justice services assessed as high risk and meeting Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) criteria.
  • Create alongside the Youth Justice Service Case Manager a weekly Intensive ISS timetable.
  • Plan, deliver and review support packages designed to ensure a high standard, smooth and consistent delivery of timetabled activities for young people and their families including the services of other agencies.
  • Deliver specific interventions with children and young people on a one-to-one and group work basis contributing towards supporting children's desistance from offending, safety & wellbeing and risk of harm to others.
  • Develop, organise and facilitate community reparation placements. Supervise children/young people attending these community reparation placements and monitor attendance to support Youth Justice Service practitioners to manage interventions.
  • Keep records up-to-date and ensure compliance and enforcement in line with the Youth Justice Service breach procedure, and through the Court process when necessary.
  • Lead the planning, facilitation and evaluation of the Youth Justice Service 'youth forum'.

The hours of this role are 35 hours per week. Please note that this can include working in the early evening as well as providing occasional cover for appointments/reparation on Sundays.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Previous Youth Justice experience
