Overview
Ackerman Pierce is currently supporting a leading local authority within Southend to recruit for a Social Worker for the Ageing Well Team on a permanent basis paying £37,938-£43,693 P/Annum.
Our client has a well-structured and organised team that are looking to grow their staffing levels. The role offers flexible working hours and has a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. Southend is embedding a systemic approach and is currently undergoing several changes focussed on reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families. Main duties
- To support citizens across Southend-on-Sea (including out-of-borough cases) with the aim to offer the appropriate support in the right place at the right time.
- To understand individual\\\’s strengths, assets and wishes to maximise their potential for independence, recognising the importance of assuming that the individual is best placed to know their own outcomes, goals and wellbeing.
- To undertake assessments and to support individuals to develop personalised care plans that take account of community assets, informal networks, universal services and other support and provision which reduces dependency.
- To work with health and social care colleagues and other partners by engaging in innovative practice and a visionary approach to creating a better Southend.

Minimum Requirements
- SWE Registration
- 1 year post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
- Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Full driving license and access to your own vehicle
Knowledge & Experience
- Qualified as a Social Worker in the last six months and/or practicing as a Qualified Social Worker in a relevant setting.
- R/A Experience of applying the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and managing adult safeguarding enquires.
- A/I Ability to apply a strengths-based, asset-based approach to assessment, care planning and review.
- A/I Support unqualified staff with their development as required, including student social workers on placement.
