Are you an experienced local authority ecologist looking for your next contract? We are seeking a Senior Natural Environment Officer to provide expert ecological advice on planning applications and help shape sustainable development across the borough. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy planning team where you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

The Role

  • Provide specialist ecological advice on planning applications.
  • Review ecological surveys, mitigation strategies and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) submissions.
  • Advise planning officers, developers and key stakeholders on ecological matters.
  • Ensure developments comply with environmental legislation and planning policy.
  • Promote biodiversity enhancement through the planning process.

About You

  • Previous experience working as an Ecologist or Natural Environment Officer within a local authority.
  • Proven experience commenting on planning applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ecology, wildlife legislation and planning policy.
  • Able to manage a varied caseload and communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders.
