We are looking to recruit a Social Worker for the Children In Care Team within the Social Care Industry. Our client has a well-structured and organised team that are looking to grow their staffing levels. The role offers flexible working hours and has a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. Portsmouth is embedding a systemic approach and is currently undergoing a number of changes focussed on reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team within Portsmouth City Council.
Main duties include:
- Act as a professional representative for the service by delivering an excellent service to people who access or need the service.
- Act with integrity and respect, ensuring at all times the needs of the individuals are paramount.
- Work with a diverse caseload, seeking support where required to meet workload deadlines.
- Promote excellent standards of Social Work practice for children and families using skills in assessment/a range of intervention in order to impact change with the ability to explain and justify decisions.
- Assess needs, risks and options taking into account legal and County Council requirements.
- Report any allegation or suspicions of abuse or potential abuse of a vulnerable person to an immediate manager or supervisor.
- Ensure effective implementation of department policies and procedures in line with statutory responsibilities and contribute to development work as required.

- Work effectively with partner organisations using transparency and honesty to get positive outcomes for children and families.
- Manage conflicting and competing priorities while remaining resilient when working with children and families with challenging behaviour, who may place significant emotional demands on you as the post holder.
- Responsible for working flexibly out of office hours to assist customers, carers and families.
- Responsible and accountable for small expenditures.
