An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Principal Educational Psychologist to lead and shape a high-performing Educational Psychology Service within a forward-thinking local authority in South Essex.
About the role
- Lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of the Educational Psychology Service.
- Drive high-quality, evidence-based psychological practice across schools, settings, and wider services.
- Ensure effective delivery of statutory SEND responsibilities and psychological advice.
- Provide expert leadership on inclusion, mental health, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
- Develop and support a skilled Educational Psychology workforce through supervision, induction, coaching, and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders and multi-agency partners to influence system-wide improvement and integrated working.
About you
- A recognised postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Significant local authority Educational Psychology experience.
- Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory processes, safeguarding responsibilities, and the strategic frameworks that underpin effective service delivery.
- Experience of leading Educational Psychology services or senior teams, including performance management, quality assurance, and service development.
- A strong track record of partnership working across education, health, and social care and the ability to influence strategic decision-making at a senior level.
