We are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness Caseworker to join a London Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and experience managing a caseload of applicants. Key responsibilities: Manage a caseload of homeless households, assessing housing needs and determining eligibility under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Conduct homelessness assessments and investigations, including prevention and relief duties. Develop and review Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) and provide appropriate housing advice and support. Make decisions in relation to statutory homelessness duties, including interim and main housing duties. Source and arrange suitable temporary accommodation where required. Liaise with landlords, housing providers, social care, support services and other agencies to secure appropriate housing solutions. Maintain accurate case records and ensure all decisions and actions are recorded in line with legislation and council procedures. Manage complex and vulnerable cases, including safeguarding, affordability and suitability considerations. Work towards preventing homelessness and securing sustainable housing outcomes for residents. Requirements: Previous experience working as a Homelessness Officer, Housing Options Officer, Homelessness Caseworker or similar within a Local Authority. Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Experience completing homelessness assessments and making statutory decisions. Good understanding of prevention and relief duties, PHPs and temporary accommodation. Excellent communication, case management and decision-making skills. Experience working with vulnerable households and multi-agency partners. Strong IT, administration and case recording skills.
