The Head of Highways and Transport provides strategic leadership, management, and direction for the planning, delivery, maintenance, and development of highways and transport services.

The postholder is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, sustainable, and resilient operation of the highway network while delivering high-quality transport infrastructure and services that support economic growth, environmental sustainability, and community wellbeing.

The role leads multidisciplinary teams, manages significant budgets and contracts, ensures statutory compliance, and develops long-term transport strategies aligned with organisational priorities and national legislation.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and implement the organisation's highways and transport strategy.

Lead the delivery of corporate priorities relating to transport, infrastructure, regeneration, climate change and economic development.

Provide professional advice to Directors, Members, Executive Leadership and external stakeholders.
