I am seeking a Governance Support Officer to play a key role in supporting school governors and clerks to ensure our schools are well-governed and compliant with legislation.
About the Role
- Provide expert advice and support to clerks on governance procedures and legislation, enabling them to operate within statutory frameworks.
- Keep clerks informed with up-to-date templates, guidance documents and communications.
- Support the delivery of our Governor Development Service (GDS) Training Programme, helping to coordinate sessions, manage bookings and ensure a smooth experience for attendees and facilitators.
- Administer the Local Authority governor nomination process, maintaining accurate records and communicating with clerks and council officials.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the School Partnerships Team to ensure a consistent and high-quality service for schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to governance-related enquiries from clerks.
- Maintain records of governing board membership and handle data securely in line with GDPR.
- Update and promote training opportunities using systems like GovernorHub and digital platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Organise and support training delivery, liaising with facilitators and evaluating sessions.
- Support the annual development and refresh of the governor training programme.
- Facilitate the LA governor nomination process, including application management and coordination with Councillors and senior officers.
