A Council in Bolton is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the Independent Living Service on a 3-month contract. This role involves supporting professionals across the Council and NHS while delivering specialist occupational therapy services that promote independence for people with disabilities across the district.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Social Workers, Community Assessment Officers (CAOs), and other health professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting residents. The Independent Living Service includes Occupational Therapists, Disability Officers (CAOs), and specialist teams such as Discharge-to-Assess at Home, Sensory, and Telecare services.

Main Duties:

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments to support individuals with disabilities in maintaining independence
  • Work collaboratively with Social Workers, CAOs, and health professionals across the Council and NHS
  • Assess for and recommend equipment, minor and major adaptations, and other assistive solutions
  • Deliver advice, rehabilitation techniques, and practical interventions to promote independent living
  • Support Discharge-to-Assess at Home, Sensory, and Telecare services where required
  • Manage a complex caseload, ensuring timely assessments and interventions
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and collaborative care planning
  • Provide professional guidance and support to colleagues within the Independent Living Service
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with professional and organisational standards
  • Contribute to service development and innovative ways of working across health and social care

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in Adult Social Care or Community settings
  • Experience assessing for equipment, adaptations, and independent living solutions
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams across health and social care
  • Strong understanding of promoting independence and wellbeing for adults with disabilities
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently
