We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Children & Young People’s OT Team in a Local authority in South East London on a 6-month contract. You will support children and young people (0‐18) with long-term physical or mental impairments, focusing on equipment provision, adaptations, and moving & handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments for minor and major housing adaptations (including DFG recommendations)
  • Prescribe equipment: profiling beds, hoists, stair climbers, shower chairs, safety beds, etc.
  • Deliver moving & handling advice — from basic to complex (hoisting, sling assessments, slide sheets, single-handed care)
  • Recommend safety equipment for behavioural needs or neurodiverse conditions
  • Joint working with social workers, special schools, health OTs, and behaviour support teams

Requirements

  • Paediatric OT experience (or strong relevant background)
  • Adaptations and equipment knowledge essential
  • Understanding of neurodiverse needs and behaviour support
  • HCPC Registration
  • Enhanced DBS (we can assist)
  • Recognised OT qualification
  • Right to work in the UK
