Barnsley Council is seeking an organised and proactive Assistant Plan Co-ordinator to join its Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team on a short-term basis. This role provides essential administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes within a busy statutory SEND service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in Education and Special Educational Needs (SEND) administration who can work accurately under pressure, meet statutory deadlines, and provide high-quality support to a fast-paced team.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support for EHCP work, manage busy team inboxes, maintain accurate records, and assist the EHC Team in meeting statutory timescales.

Main Duties:
  • Provide administrative support to the Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team.
  • Support the coordination and administration of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.
  • Manage and prioritise a busy team email inbox, ensuring queries are responded to promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and update case management systems.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to record, monitor, and analyse data relating to EHCP activity.
  • Assist with tracking statutory deadlines and ensuring work progresses within required timescales.
  • Prepare, organise, and distribute documentation relating to EHCP assessments, reviews, and associated processes.
  • Liaise professionally with parents, carers, schools, educational settings, and partner agencies.
  • Support the EHC Team with general administrative duties including document management, correspondence, and data entry.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR when handling sensitive information.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the effective delivery of SEND services.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of customer service and administrative support across the team.
  • Attend the Barnsley office on Mondays and Thursdays as part of the hybrid working arrangement.
Requirements:
  • Experience working within Education, Special Educational Needs (SEND), or a similar administrative environment.
  • Previous experience supporting Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes is desirable.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and data.
  • Experience managing busy shared email inboxes and responding to high volumes of correspondence.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to work on a hybrid basis, attending the Barnsley office every Monday and Thursday.
