We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs such as autism, learning difficulties, and communication challenges. You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils develop their learning, confidence, and independence — celebrating their progress every step of the way.
What You’ll Do
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs.
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with personal care, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting preferred).
- A patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, or first aid).
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; a Level 3 qualification in childcare or learning support is desirable.
