About the Role
At Skills Centre Plus, our mission is simple: to change lives and make a difference. We're proud to provide a supportive, inspiring environment for young people aged 16 -19 who need a different kind of educational setting one that meets their needs, recognises their potential, and helps them thrive. Our learners all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and some can display challenging behaviours. We’re looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and genuinely cares about helping young people succeed; especially those who may not have found success in traditional educational settings.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our dynamic team at Skills Centre Plus:
- Level 1 - This is an entry role for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with SEN but who have no formal teaching qualification/experience. Entry role tutors receive guidance, mentoring, and training whilst gaining hands-on experience working one-to-one with learners. You will deliver your own engaging learning experiences, whilst working towards a recognized teaching qualification.
- Level 2 Tutors bring subject expertise and practical experience and should hold a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. AET) and should also hold an appropriate vocational qualification. This role focuses on delivering engaging and differentiated sessions that help SEN learners develop personal, vocational, and employability skills. You’ll take responsibility for your own planning and delivery and quality assurance while continuing to develop pedagogical practice through in-house and external CPD.
- Level 3 Tutors are fully qualified teachers, holding QTS who lead the design and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across a defined curriculum area, acting as curriculum lead. They act as role models within the team, mentoring less experienced staff and contributing to quality assurance and improvement. This role plays a key part in shaping curriculum strategy and ensuring outstanding learner outcomes in line with Skills Centre Plus and awarding organisation standards.
