Wellbeing & Life Skills Coach to join our team, supporting Care Experienced Young People across Lincolnshire to develop the confidence, resilience and life skills they need to succeed.

As a

Wellbeing & Life Skills Coach a typical day might include

  • Working directly with Care Experienced Young People to develop their personal and social development by engaging them through the provision and delivery of community based positive activities and interventions
  • To support and at times lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of community-based sessions, offering a diverse range of activities that will ensure an actively engaged community.

This will include, at times taking the lead on different workstreams and assisting in the effective running of centre-based provision, outreach and holiday activity programmes

  • To plan and deliver a case load of interventions based on the identified needs of young people
  • To work collaboratively across the wider teams, community, and partner agencies in advocating, signposting and supporting young people through community provision and interventions addressing factors including barriers to education that affect successful progress
  • Post holders will be required to remain up to date with young people’s needs and take a proactive approach to developing new responses to the changing and emerging needs of young people.
  • Guide and support young people in developing other lifestyle choices, encouraging their participation in their community including the broad range of local clubs and societies which are available (e. g., local Youth Centre's and projects, sports clubs, theatre groups etc).
  • Assisting in the provision of advice and support to local community groups and agencies.
  • To provide timely and appropriate recording of information on the relevant platform in respect of the work undertaken with young people ensuring it is accurate and up to date working to deadlines and requirements in line with the relevant local and national guidance and standards
  • Engage in relevant training in order to maintain knowledge and skills; understanding and awareness of safeguarding; trauma informed practice; risk management; youth justice; and effective work with young people to maintain high standards in the role and to facilitate professional advice and support to others.
  • To attend and contribute to regular team meetings, wider locality and case review meetings and other events as required.

To participate in regular supervisions and appraisals with your line manager.

  • The post holder will be expected to work outside of normal office hours as required including evenings and weekends and hold a full driving licence with the ability to travel, occasionally outside Lincolnshire.

The must haves

  • A willingness and ability to plan and deliver a range of courses/activities beyond your primary area of expertise with an enthusiasm to develop your skills to adapt our delivery to needs of care experienced young people.
  • Qualification in Mentoring, Safeguarding, Advice and Guidance or similar, or a mental health qualification.
  • Are comfortable with, and can deliver, both 1-2-1 and group sessions in their role .
  • Experience of professionally engaging with adults and children.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting people to thrive and achieve, overcoming barriers faced because of mental ill health.
  • Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • A good understanding of the barriers faced by Care Experienced Young People, and the solutions that may be able to benefit them.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, whether in the same team or external support providers.
  • You’re a positive, energised and enthusiastic person, with a real zest for helping others.

  • L3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) or Teaching qualification, and/or willingness to undergo further training.
  • Mental health first aider qualified.
  • A recognised professional qualification relevant to area of work
  • Awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people.

  • An understanding of the different local services available for customers.
