As our Data Analyst, you’ll blend information from on‑premise systems, hosted Saa S platforms and direct SQL sources to create powerful management dashboards and meaningful analysis—ideally using Power BI.
You’ll interpret performance trends, uncover patterns and present insights that help colleagues across the organisation operate smarter and faster.
From attending meetings to share your findings, to partnering with operational teams to translate their needs into data‑led solutions, your work will influence everything from national data returns to future reporting strategies.
You’ll support a culture of self‑service, champion data quality, and contribute to emerging projects such as new reporting requirements or potential Data Lake/MI developments.
With your strong understanding of large database systems, reporting methodologies and regulatory responsibilities, you’ll help maintain data integrity, improve processes and strengthen how we use information across Acis.
You’ll also collaborate closely with IT colleagues—sharing expertise, building capability and ensuring our data foundations stay robust.
As a Data Analyst, a typical day might include
- Providing high quality management information via reporting directly from on premise systems, hosted SAAS solutions along with direct SQL to produce management information dashboards (preference for using Power BI) . Also providing context and analysis to these.
This will often involve blending data from different but connected business systems.
- Interpreting performance and operational data to produce dashboards and insightful management information to colleagues across the organisation, to help them operate and make decisions effectively.
- Attend meetings to present performance data and insights.
- Conduct trend and pattern analysis, undertake research and produce reports and presentations.
- Engage both proactively with the business operations teams and assist in the translation of their business requirements into meaningful data insights.
- Working with the Data Performance Lead and colleagues across the business to determine Management Information requirements.
- Assistance with the completion of national data returns.
- Supporting the business to use system reporting packages available within the main Acis IT business systems and promoting a culture of self-service.
- Using reporting methodologies such as Power BI, SQL, SSRS, ETL, Power Automate, Advanced Excel, Crystal reports, etc. for bespoke data reporting requirements and assisting with complex queries
- Assist and feed back to the wider Systems Team to develop a culture of data quality, data recording and improved processes to enhance data collection and improve system use.
- Lead on new systems reporting requirements and potential Data Lake/MI stream projects.
- Using your excellent knowledge and understanding of large database systems and reporting methodologies to help maintain data integrity and accuracy to support management decisions.
- Follow system statutory and regulatory requirements ensuring Acis Group is compliant with its responsibilities on data protection regulations.
- Collaborate, Provide and share expertise to develop colleagues within the IT Services team, ensuring a shared knowledge and understanding.
Your role is all about staying up to date awareness of industry and sector best practice relating to IT systems.
Some of the experience/skills we need to consider you
- Higher education qualification or substantial equivalent relevant work experience with a suitable professional qualification in management Information development and reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, creative at problem solving.
- Experience of large database systems analysis / administration and business intelligence reporting software
- Experience of data architecture, data warehouse and data lakes and reporting across multiple group wide business systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of SQL server databases, table and field structures. Able to create SQL views from databases
- Experience of creating or working on Power BI management information dashboards to help provide Key Performance Indicators.
- Detailed technical skills and abilities in MS Applications including advanced Excel/VBA.
- A solid understanding of user interface / interaction design as applicable to enterprise software and web-based applications.
• Demonstrable practical experience of at least some of the following
- Power BI, SQL Developer, SSRS, Data Manipulation, Batch Processing
- SQL, Oracle, Database Administration
- Web, C#, HTML,
- Comprehensive understanding of GDPR and cyber security.
