THIS IS A TERM TIME ONLY ROLE COVERING 46 WEEKS

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on sessions in brickwork, plastering, joinery, and other construction trades

  • Build positive and supportive relationships to inspire and motivate
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive, learner-focused team
  • Adapt to timetable changes and support in other curriculum areas when needed

What We're Looking For:

  • A skilled construction professional or passionate tutor with experience in brickwork, plastering, joinery, or general building
  • Previous experience working with SEN learners is desirable, but not essential
  • Teaching experience or a willingness to train (support provided)
  • Experience of both End-Point Assessment (EPA) and portfolio based assessments such as Skills Education Group (SEG) would be an advantage
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to make a difference

We believe in second chances, fresh starts, and the power of practical learning to transform lives. If you share that belief, we’d love to hear from you.

Levels:

  • Level 1: This is an entry role for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with SEN but who have no formal teaching qualification/experience. Entry role tutors receive guidance, mentoring, and training whilst gaining hands-on experience working one-to-one with learners. You will deliver your own engaging learning experiences, whilst working towards a recognized teaching qualification.
  • Level 2: Tutors bring subject expertise and practical experience and should hold a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. AET) and should also hold an appropriate vocational qualification. This role focuses on delivering engaging and differentiated sessions that help SEN learners develop personal, vocational, and employability skills. You’ll take responsibility for your own planning and delivery and quality assurance while continuing to develop pedagogical practice through in-house and external CPD.
  • Level 3: Tutors are fully qualified teachers, holding QTS who lead the design and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across a defined curriculum area, acting as curriculum lead. They act as role models within the team, mentoring less experienced staff and contributing to quality assurance and improvement. This role plays a key part in shaping curriculum strategy and ensuring outstanding learner outcomes in line with Skills Centre Plus and awarding organisation standards.
