The role – a real “feel good” job. This is one of those roles that offers an emotional lift for the person doing it and for the learners you support in equal measure. You genuinely make a difference to young people’s lives—helping them start the day feeling safe, calm and motivated, and ensuring they get home safely at the end of the day.

It’s ideal for someone with life experience, maturity and the confidence to pass that on positively—someone who enjoys local driving (Doncaster to Scunthorpe), takes pride in doing a job properly, and values building meaningful relationships supporting the learner in a number of different ways throughout the day.

About the learners: You’ll be working with young people aged 16+ who have an Education, Health Care Plan (EHCP) and a range of needs.

What you’ll be doing: As a Community Driver, you’ll play a key part in ensuring learners begin and end their day safely, positively and on time. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Safely transporting learners to and from Skills Centre Plus sites, following agreed routes and schedules.
  • Completing daily vehicle safety and maintenance checks in line with legal and organisational requirements.
  • Taking responsibility for learner safety and safeguarding while in transit and throughout the day whilst offering support.
