As a Skills Tutor, you’ll bring learning to life through dynamic teaching, tailored 1-to-1 support and meaningful connections with partners and employers. Responsibilities
- Delivering an effective and motivating curriculum across sites as required.
- Ensuring our curriculum intent is embedded in all teaching, and sequencing is achieved through all delivery.
- Supporting the creation of schemes of work, lesson plans and appropriate teaching resources for own teaching sessions.
- Complete funding paperwork and other admin duties as required in line with guidelines.
- Supporting learners on a day-to-day basis to address obstacles, raise confidence and self-esteem, develop social and work skills and achieve goals.
- Developing and supporting links and engagement activities with partner organisations and employers in order to develop new opportunities for learners.
- Helping learners to identify and record progression opportunities – further learning, apprenticeships or employment.
- To complete learner records and monitoring reports.
- To help develop techniques to monitor progress and evaluate the programmes, including effective ways of encouraging learner feedback.
- Lead on the involvement of young people in our programme development through learner voice activities.
- To help with the achievement of organisational recruitment and quality targets across all programmes.
- To work effectively with other members of the team across the organisation to share practice and develop the quality of the programme.
- Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our learners receive the best service possible.
- Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the courses you deliver across the provision.
- Lead on course outline information and schemes of work for courses you deliver, ensuring all is in place at all times.
- Monitoring, marking and assessing learners’ work and progress preparing learners to succeed in achieving their qualifications.
- Carrying out a pastoral role as a personal tutor to students, including conducting tutorials and regular reviews on a one-to-one basis with learners.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional/subject qualifications at least to level 3 or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
- Teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training.
- L3 Education and Training or willingness to undertake this.
- Awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people.
- Ability to deal with behaviours that challenge at times.
- Experience of working positively with young people.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Good standard of English, maths and ICT.
- Experience of delivering within a community setting to all ages.
- Resilience.
- Experience of working to achieve targets in a timely manner.
- Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
