Specialist SpLD (dyslexia) Advisory Teacher

About the role

These new roles are pivotal in helping schools across the local area build capacity to identify and support children with severe and persistent specific literacy difficulties. You will act as an adviser to Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), teachers and support staff, provide comprehensive training, and drive whole-school development across the local area to ensure every child can achieve their full potential. You will:

• Work collaboratively with a variety of school colleagues and wider professionals.
• Enhance school's capacity to support pupils with literacy difficulties/dyslexia.
• Design and deliver high quality training to schools.
• Work with both primary and secondary schools.

About you

You will be a qualified teacher with substantial experience of supporting pupils in both secondary and primary schools with literacy difficulties/dyslexia. You will hold a postgraduate qualification in teaching pupils with dyslexia. In addition you will have:

• A deep understanding of mainstream settings and the SEN code of practice.
• Proven expertise in designing and delivering effective intervention for pupils with literacy difficulties/dyslexia.
• Experience of delivering professional development and training to colleagues in education settings.
• An understanding of the impact and effective supports for conditions that frequently co-occur with dyslexia.

Start dates: Achieving for Children have set start dates meaning successful candidates join on a set date in each month. Candidates are advised to prepare for this should a job offer be accepted to ensure eligible continuous service is not affected.
