Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist in Kingston

As specialist paediatric Occupational Therapist; moving and handling, you will be an experienced, autonomous practitioner who is able to work in a range of settings to provide a high quality paediatric occupational therapy service. As part of the role, the post holder will be responsible for assessment and recommendations to produce comprehensive moving and handling plans for children and young people in both Kingston and Richmond boroughs, attending mainstream schools. This will include working collaboratively with other members of health, social care and education teams. The post holder will also be responsible for training members of the health team in moving and handling of people. You will carry a caseload of children and young people with a variety of complex physical, learning and social needs. Your role is to provide occupational therapy assessment, intervention and advice to children, young people and their families to support participation. Full training will be provided.

Our current vacancy is due to expanding our team in:

• Our local Special Schools who provide an outstanding education service supporting children and young people aged 4-19 years with severe and complex learning disabilities.
• Our local Specialist Resource Provisions based across both Kingston supporting children and young people aged 4-11 years with social communication difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Working in the mainstream school team delivering an experts at hand offer.

The Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:

• Active HCPC registration and documented evidence of CPD (maintained portfolio).
• You will be responsible for writing reports for Education Health and Care Plans and multidisciplinary assessments/reviews.
• Significant experience of clinical assessment and intervention as an autonomous occupational therapist using standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.
• Knowledge of current best practice in paediatric OT and evidence of its application in assessment planning, implementing and evaluating treatment.
