Make a real difference in people's lives by bringing your love of numbers and language to our GCSE and Functional Skills training team in Plymouth City Centre. We’re looking for confident Tutors to support our vocational learners with these crucial life and employment skills.

- GCSE Maths Tutor
- Functional Skills Tutor (English or Maths, combined abilities an advantage)
Salary: £23,346 per annum
Hours: 34 per week (Company standard full-time)
Part-Time/Job Share available for suitable candidates
Planned Start: April 2026

Working Arrangements:
The standard full-time working week is 34 hours, usually Monday to Friday (although some flexibility may be required depending on the sector in which you work). All staff receive 40 days annual leave (or pro-rata equivalent), free park-and-ride bus travel from Central Park, plus access to our Cycle-to-Work scheme, as well as fantastic opportunities for professional development and expanding skills and experience.
Responsibilities:
“Actively Transforming Lives” by delivering consistent, high quality training in Maths and English to support learners in achieving functional skills and GCSE qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Qualified to teach GCSE and/or Functional Skills in Maths and/or English;
- Hold current teaching qualification to minimum of Level 3 (PTLLS, Education & Training or equivalent);
- CAVA or equivalent assessing qualification an advantage (but fully-accredited training available in-house);
- Experienced in supporting and maintaining engagement of learners from Entry Level 2 to Level 2 abilities, with the resilience and positive, approachable manner that maintains learner engagement;
- Confident in delivering consistent quality of training and assessment, teaching individuals, small groups and classroom cohorts;
- Have good organisational skills with ability to prioritise own workload;
- Able to develop and maintain motivational working relationships with learners;
- Able to work both independently and within the wider team supporting functional skills as part of the vocational subject curriculum.
