We are delighted to partner with a leading Top 10 accountancy firm in their search for an accomplished Corporate Tax Director to join their West Midlands advisory team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role within a high-performing and highly respected department.

The Opportunity

As Corporate Tax Director, you will lead on major client relationships, drive technical excellence across the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s tax strategy. You will be responsible for overseeing a significant portfolio, delivering complex tax planning advice, and ensuring the highest standards of compliance and advisory work.

You will also act as a senior figure within the service line, coaching talented managers and seniors, building external networks, and contributing to the commercial growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop relationships across key corporate tax clients.
• Deliver exceptional service and proactively identify future client needs.
• Oversee cross-service line delivery to ensure a seamless client experience.

Technical Expertise

• Act as engagement lead on complex and large tax assignments.
• Provide oversight on quality, technical accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Anticipate risks and take timely corrective action.
• Mentor and empower team members, supporting their long‑term development.
• Promote an open, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
• Champion the firm’s values and high standards of professionalism.

Operational & Strategic Excellence

• Drive efficiency, quality improvements, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Contribute to department and firm-wide strategy, planning, and innovation.
• Support recruitment, resource planning, and talent development.

Business Development

• Strategically build and convert external networks to win new work.
• Drive fee growth across your client base and introduce new service lines.
• Articulate and deliver the firm’s value proposition with clarity and impact.

What We’re Looking For

• A proven Corporate Tax specialist operating at Senior Manager or Director level.
• Qualified in tax and/or accountancy (CTA / ACA / ACCA / ATT / CA or equivalent).
• Deep experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• A confident leader with strong commercial judgement and excellent communication.
• Someone who inspires others, drives quality, and leads by example.
